Since 2013

Bixby The Original was founded in 2013 on the belief that the comb deserved the same attention as the tools and accessories people value every day. Inspired by recording studios, vintage instruments, and industrial design, founder Mark Kiczula spent a year rethinking one of the oldest utilitarian tools, designing handcrafted combs carved from Italian acetate and engineered for Optimum Drag.  

CRAFTSMANSHIP
Each Bixby comb is handcrafted in small batches from Italian acetate using traditional manufacturing techniques. The combs are carved, shaped, polished and finished by hand before receiving the signature metal Bixby inlay.

OPTIMUM DRAG
Bixby's Optimum Drag is the combination of Head Gap, Tooth Length, and Tooth Foil, creating a clean, even pull through fine to medium hair, adding definition and a signature corduroy-line finish.

ITALIAN ACETATE
Italian acetate from Mazzucchelli 1849 is a plant-derived cellulose material valued for its warmth, depth, and ability to be carved, shaped, and polished to reveal rich colors and patterns.
