Optimum Drag
The way a comb moves through hair begins with the geometry of its teeth.
Bixby The Original engineers each tooth around three elements: Head Gap, Tooth Length, and Tooth Foil.
Head Gap is the tip-to-tip distance between adjacent teeth. Tooth Length determines how deeply the comb engages the hair. Tooth Foil gives each tooth its individual profile as it enters, separates, and moves through the hair.
Together, these dimensions create the controlled resistance Bixby calls Optimum Drag.
The Thumb Index
The Bixby Thumb Index is heat-formed directly into the acetate.
Cellulose acetate responds to controlled heat and pressure, allowing the material to be shaped. Bixby uses this characteristic to form the sculpted Thumb Index directly into the body of the comb
The depression creates a natural resting point for the thumb, providing grip, control, and comfort in the hand.
